Wildlife Art
B.J. Opfer's work has been featured in individual one-man shows at Georgetown Hospital and the U.S. Geological Survey in Washington DC, and Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax VA. He has exhibited in juried shows at the National Zoo, the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge, and the Rappahannock Wildlife Show.
His paintings have been purchased by the embassies of Paraguay and Spain, adn are part of private collections worldwide.
He began painting 25 years ago, and has used several mediums, settling on watercolor as the perfect medium for achieving the needed softness of the feathers of birds.
Wild birds compose most of his portfolio, with some exotic birds as well; and more recently, a few small mammals.
